Details: This grand brass candelabra is likely an American made piece symbolizing / supporting Hungarian efforts during the Hungarian Revolution of 1848. Americans largely sympathized with the Hungarian Revolution as many Americans saw the Hungarian struggle against Austria as similar to their own revolution against Britain. They admired the Hungarian desire for independence and a republican form of government. It’s possible that the man, clutching a scroll that reads “HUNGARY” is intended to be Artúr Görgei,  a Hungarian military leader renowned for being one of the greatest generals of the Hungarian Revolutionary Army.
